London top for wages

London is top of the leaderboard for wages according to a new table compiled by job listing site Adzuna and reported in this article from Economia.

The English capital comes out in front with average wages of £39,232 ahead of Cambridge with £32,321 and Edinburgh with £34,145.

Adzuna’s research looked at 1.2 million jobs on its site across the UK.

Here’s the top 10 cities by average wage:

London – £39,232

Cambridge – £35,321

Edinburgh – £34,145

Reading – £33,210

Birmingham – £32,833

Oxford – £32,682

Aberdeen – £32,280

Guildford – £32,227

Stevenage – £32,094

Luton – £32,067

The lowest 10 cities by average wage were:

Rochdale – £24,458

Stoke-on-Trent – £26,683

The Wirral – £27,033

Middlesbrough – £27,292

Preston– £27,392

Salford – £27,472

Worcester – £27,937

Chester – £27,939

Bradford – £27,955

Chichester – £28,336

Roles in accounting and finance came in at number six, with average wages of £36,554 with IT roles number one with £47,512.

Legal – £40,190

Scientific/QA – £38,926

Trade & construction – £38,625

Energy, oil & gas – £38,548

Accounting & finance – £36,554

Healthcare & nursing – £36,306

Consultancy – £35,435

Engineering – £35,075

The bottom five jobs by average wage:

Customer services – £20,928

Admin – £22,261

Domestic help & cleaning – £22,313

Hospitality & catering – £23,068

Graduate – £24,282
